D1, G League, NBA = This is where we expect most of these young players to end up.
I have coached at all 3 levels and have never heard players & coaches speaking like this during practice huddles.
Why does @OvertimeElite continue to glorify this with the next generation of top players?
It just cost Anthony Edwards $100K for cussing in an interview and these kids think what they are saying is cool because there are no consequences.
Will Wade taking you through the details of what makes a good Defensive Pressure team
Young coaches, pay attention to his detailed level of thought and analysis
Young Coaches:
Reps.
If you have an opportunity to work with younger athletes, do it.
If you have an opportunity to train players, do it.
If you have an opportunity to speak on the game you love, do it.
No opportunity is too small when you are working at your craft.

What happened to a basketball player’s summer goal of getting up 500 shots a day? Give me 250 shots a day, but get up shots. It seems young players don’t spend time in the gym getting up shots anymore, nor time in the gym period. Pretty please…..
Fake Toughness
*Cheap shots
*Talking trash
*Taunting
*Handshake line scuffles
Real Toughness
*Practicing hard every day
*Doing the dirty work
*Playing through aches and pains
*Cheering on your teammates when you’re on the bench
*Playing through fatigue
*Making winning plays
@transformbball It’s called ball control and getting a feel for the ball. You’d be surprised how this can be implemented into many skill sessions for warmups. Not to mention wasted time is a crazy statement
3. Lock the Start
The best drills are games with a specific focus on the thing you're trying to get better at. You get game like reps practicing the thing that you want to get better at.
A locked start is how you do that.
1. Add Defense.
Five on O won't transfer. Doing your press break against air won't transfer. Finishing against air won't transfer.
The simplest way to guarantee game transformation with your offensive skills is to add defense.
Bigs in our program have the same rights, freedoms, and expectations as guards.
1) They have to make every timed sprint; no added time for bigs.
2) They shoot 3’s in practice and charts; we don’t move bigs in. If they shoot a good percentage from 3, they get the green light in games.
3) They defend point guards - We switch screens often so bigs will play on the perimeter on D.
4) Their conditioning level must be elite. Big men have to cover the most space on the floor as they often run rim-to-rim.
5) Ball skills: Bigs go through player development with a focus on developing both perimeter and back-to-the-basket skills. We want to play them on perimeter in heavy doses (5-out, pick and pop, trail, etc).
Never know man …take advantage of every opportunity and make sure you tell your people’s you love them…you never know when your last breath will be. Praying for the Haskins family 💯🙏🏽
Due to a coaching change within the Houghton College Men’s Basketball program, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility. My DMs will be open to any opportunity at any level.
