I have a personal conflict with the rukun negara, the 'kepercayaan kepada tuhan/believe in god' part. In my IC, it says I'm a Buddhist on paper but I'm mostly agnostic. Even in Buddhist teachings, Buddha is not a God. He's a teacher that's gone to Nirvana, so he isn't around anymore.
What is even harder to explain is the Malaysian Chinese tri believe of Buddhism, Taoism and folk believe. Under this tri believe there are many gods and deities under the jade emperor. This is a world where the monkey god and the Buddha exists together.
So when the rukun negara says 'god', my understanding is that it's Monotheism (believe in one god) versus polytheism (believe in many gods). There is no space for atheist (tak percaya tuhan).
Why did the writers of the rukun negara specifically mention kepercayaan kepada tuhan and not kepercayaan kepada agama? If the intention was to ensure one has a moral compass, atheists who are humanist are pretty nice people (most of them). Is there space for atheists and Polytheists in Malaysia?
The rest of rukun negara I don't have a problem with and agree with it.
Humans are wired to defend their tribe. When our religion or culture is criticised, it can feel like a personal attack. That instinct makes internal criticism uncomfortable.
But moral courage means speaking up anyway.
If something wrong is happening within our own community, we should be the first to say so. Not the last.
Waiting until other communities raise the issue only proves we have failed to hold ourselves accountable.
I am a Malaysian Indian.
Malaysians are my tribe.
And that principle must apply when shrines and temples are built indiscriminately, and selfishly like this.
Hindutva:
“Protect the majority.”
“Culture under threat.”
“Blame minorities.”
Guess who else uses the same script ???
No. Not Malaysian Indians. Sekian.
@FizFoolish Kalau nabi ada sekarang, kau rasa dia takkan kagum dengan attack helicopter, ICBM, Blue Force Tracking, CQB, ISR satellite, electromagnetic?
Tolong la pergi terjun bangunan dan tolong jangan membiak dan sebar kobodohan kau
People ask how Mikel Arteta survived during the darkness at Arsenal.
They ask why he wasn't sacked like all these other coaches. They do not understand, they want to know how.
Well, listen to him speak and ask yourself if you would ever sack this person from your organization.
