@DoctorMeowskis I commend your courage to speak about #depression#anxiety#medicalstudentsuicide I lost a good friend from #MedSchool to suicide, he seemed to have a good life on the outside, #medstudents show others you care, simple gestures may make a difference.
We don’t hear nearly enough about failure and thus de-stigmatize it. Students therefore often think they’re the only ones who have failed. How can you bring those stories forward in a normative way? - Interesting perspective at #AAMCJointMtg
Pre exam jitters tempting me to cancel my step 3 on Monday. But I remember when I didn’t sleep a wink before step 2, decided I wasn’t going then my mother-in-law called to wake me & wish me luck, like “No sleep? Okay. You gonna get ready now then?” So I went to it and killed it.
This coming Sunday at 11:10am, @MedEdUnicorn will be giving a talk about the ideas motivating #failmed, and how you can be part of the culture change. Attending #medx? Be there in person! Not attending? Join the convo by following #failmed and #medx hashtags
I didn’t have a one moment. I would say I wanted to quit more than I wanted to stick with it. It wasn’t until finding psych and Good mentors who were honest that it was hard that I actually felt like I belonged @LAS_Inc_#medtwitter#womeninmedicine@FailMedBlog https://t.co/aVXxTdXXna
Four excellent steps for processing #failure:
What happened? Be very honest and don’t point any blame at someone else
Why did it happen?
How will it never happen again?
See you later aka move forward and don’t look back https://t.co/tIvJqkZAgv
How do you deal with failures? Do you frame them as something upsetting and irreversible? How about looking at them from a different angle? https://t.co/yvNEy28J4c #success#failure
@trevy13@choo_ek@drjessigold@jkwillettmd You’re going to be great!! And I promise, everyone in your audience has also failed, and some of them feel very alone in that. For those, you’re doing a wonderful thing.
Another nurse and I were told by an APP we were absurd for staying at the bedside with an obtunded man while he died.
What’s absurd is to let people die alone, to depart this life, without knowing there is someone there with them.
I don't know @BrowofJustice, @iceman_ex or any of the other the folks behind @thosewecarry, but I've been following the discussion that started last weekend and I want to again put my support out there.
Let's make a positive change
Let's listen to our patients
Let's change the medical world
Let's kick the hell out of healthcare
