Golf travel is growing, but so is the competition for those trips.
If I were a smaller golf resort, I’d focus on 3 things:
1. Give people a reason to choose you beyond “great golf.”
2. Make the trip easy to understand.
3. Stop treating “golfers” like one audience.
Fall might be the best time of year for a golf trip.
Cooler weather and some of the best scenery you'll get all year.
If you’re looking for an excuse to squeeze in one more trip before winter, we put together a few places worth considering.

@JishSwish@KidFancE Check out Lawsonia if you’re in Green Lake. If you’re willing to drive a bit, Sentry World, Sand Valley are both about an hour and a half from there. If you want to drive and splurge on the greens fees, Erin Hills is worth both!
Most Florida golf is spent bouncing between housing developments in a cart. Streamsong is different.
Red, Blue and Black are built to be walked. The Chain has no fixed tees or par. Bone Valley arrives in 2027.

The old rules of golf travel don’t apply everywhere anymore.
Sometimes a resort package is the only realistic way to get the golf you want. Sometimes it means paying more for a trip that doesn’t fit your group as well.

Sometimes a twilight putting session is the perfect way to end the day.
Small things like this can take your trip to the next level, but are easy to overlook.
The BMW Championship is at Bellerive this week.
A few hours south: Payne’s Valley, Ozarks National, Buffalo Ridge and Top of the Rock.
We put together a BMW + Big Cedar golf trip:

Golf has always been a great way to do business.
A golf trip gives you even more time with clients, prospects or your team.
I wrote about how to plan one and a few destinations that work especially well.

Some golf resorts follow the Disney World model, shaking you down like Bonnie and Clyde for everything once they get you in the door.
@Sand_Valley is not one of those resorts. Their turn food is reasonably priced and perfectly portioned to keep you going through the back nine.
Going to the BMW Championship?
Don't book your flight home just yet.
Bellerive is only a few hours from Big Cedar, making it one of the best ways to turn tournament week into a golf trip.

If someone asked me where to book their next golf trip, this is where I'd start.
The Front Nine ranks the nine best public golf courses I've played in the U.S. so far. Hopefully this list looks a little different a year from now.

@MarquetteGolf 36 holes. Dramatic rock outcroppings. Views of Lake Superior. Stay-and-play cabins. A place that looks and feels different from just about anywhere else in the Midwest.

One great golf course doesn't automatically make a great golf trip.
The best trips are built around the entire experience, not just one tee time.

Nothing says "vacation" quite like waking up before sunrise because somebody saved $37 a night on a hotel 40 minutes from the course.
The savings are always theoretical. The commute is very real.
