There was a time when Indians used to say ‘Pakistan ko haraa do phir chahe World Cup haar jao’. That’s no longer the case, I feel.
Beating Pakistan is important and will always be considering our geopolitical reality but it’s no longer the ‘be all and end all’ of Indian fans cricketing ambitions. 😇
They have moved on.
I can’t say the same for Pakistan though—it seems (from the outside) that their identity is still tied to India. Happy to be corrected.
