KINGDOM FINANCE PRINCIPLES: MONEY SHOULD NOT COMMAND YOU
Ecclesiastes 10:19 (NKJV): “A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes merry; but money answers everything.”
God designed money to answer to His children, not to command them.
When a man is commanded by money, it means that money has become his master and his god. This is why Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters... You cannot serve God and mammon.”
Money is a servant. It should never become the voice that defines your character, your choices, your relationships, your honour, or your obedience to God.
How do you know that a man or woman is under the command of money?
One of the signs is an adverse change in values, attitude, and character because of money. For example, before some people were elevated financially, they were courteous and warm. They greeted their friends and honoured the people around them. But ever since money started whispering in their ears that they are now better than those they once walked with, they can pass by without even a simple hello. That is money commanding a man.
For others, they will do anything for money but cannot do the same for God and His Kingdom. Their sacrifices for money can never compare to their sacrifices for the gospel. They can wake up early, stay up late, cross borders, endure pressure, and inconvenience themselves for financial gain, yet become tired, unavailable, or uninterested when it comes to the things of God. That, too, is a sign of a man or woman under the command of money.
The Bible says in Psalm 62:10, “If riches increase, do not set your heart on them.” Therefore, refuse to be commanded by money. Let money answer to the purposes of God in your life. Let it serve the gospel. Let it bless men. Let it solve problems. Let it advance the Kingdom. But never let it sit on the throne of your heart. Hallelujah!

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for the wisdom of Your Word. I refuse to be ruled, commanded, or defined by money. My heart belongs to You. My values, character, honour, humility, and obedience are not for sale. As You increase me, keep my heart humble, generous, and yielded to Your purposes. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

And one of his servants said, “None, my Lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.” So he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” And it was told him, saying, “Surely he is in Dothan.” (2 Kings 6:12-13 NKJV)

Then the king of Israel sent someone to the place of which the man of God had told him. Thus he warned him, and he was watchful there, not just once or twice. Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?” (2 Kings 6:10-11 NKJV)
