Govt mulls wheat import to avert crisis!
The federal and provincial governments met on Monday for the second time to avert a brewing wheat crisis after two largest producing provinces declared shortages and sought releases from federal reserves to arrest soaring prices. https://t.co/ANGTahQgoZ
Agreed.
1. Not deregulation
2. It’s monopolisation
3. Monopoly = higher costs
Feudals mindset running the govt have again tilted policy to benefit their own cartels instead of competition. Poor Public pays the price as always.
Didn't the Govt say that it is deregulating Petroleum Prices?
This is what the Govt just did:
1. Banned all private OMCs from importing diesel
2. Made PSO the sole importer by cabinet order
3. Embedded PSO's declared premium as the legal pricing benchmark
A. This is not deregulation
B. This is monopolisation dressed in the language of deregulation
C. Monopoly procurement always costs more — not less
What free market?
We rig the market for sugar to benefit industry and make consumers lose.
We rig the market for petroleum products to benefit industry and make consumers lose.
We subsidise fertiliser companies without giving equal benefit to farmers.
We rig the market for wheat to make farmers lose and make selected investors and stockists gain.
We rig the market for electricity and gas to make producers gain and consumers lose.
We don’t have free markets. We have an elite controlled, rent seeking economy.
A government is not expected to solve every problem overnight.
But it is expected to tell people what the plan is.

Pak has been declining among nations for 2 decades due to our governance problems. @Fahdhusain identifies 10 reforms/issues that the govt should address but is incapable of doing so. This is due to corruption, incompetence and illegitimacy. https://t.co/D6YmrpgJls
KARACHI has been ranked among the ‘least-liveable cities in the world’, ranking 170th among 173 cities on the Economist Intelligence Unit’s annual Global Liveability Index 2026.
A WhatsApp forward is not research. If I cannot clearly explain how a business makes money, grows, and why it is worth owning, I don't invest. Tips can start research, but they should never end it.
I have friends who research for 3–5 days before buying a Rs1 lac phone.
But Invest Rs5 lac in a stock based on a WhatsApp forward.
Behavioral economists call this scope insensitivity, we don't scale our effort to the size of the decision.
One story based on an announcement by a company becomes “talk of the town” and Whatsapp forward. Millions are lost by new investors in this expensive habit.
What actually you should do before investing:
How will this business become more valuable? More customers or new products?
That's what investing is, not predicting prices. But Understanding businesses.
Most investors don't lose money because they lack information.
They lose it because they borrow someone else's conviction without borrowing their research.
If you can't explain why you own a business, you are not an investor but a speculator who has zero information.
What's the worst investment tip you've ever received? And how did you come out of that hole?

The math does not lie. International oil hits pre war levels ($75), yet local petrol costs Rs 42/litre more. This Rs 450 Billion premium proves that structural inefficiencies and corporate privileges are being funded straight out of the poor public's pockets. #Reforms
1. International oil price, pre-war: $75/barrel
2. International oil price, today: $75/barrel
3. Petrol price, pre-war: Rs 257/litre
4. Petrol price, today: Rs 299/litre
5. The shock passed
6. The price didn't
7. The government pocketed ~Rs450 billion
