@surrakimuhammad Meter reader notes reading on 13th of every month. For this month, he visited on 13th, 15th and 16th only to wait for crossing of 200 threshold. And bills jumped to ~10k from around 5I.
@ZulfiqarAhmed69 More important is in UK, no one is above law, law makers have moral authority to make and implement laws (no form 47s).

🟠 Claim
On 5 November 2025, a social media account on X called 'World of Statistics' falsely claimed that Pakistan had the world’s largest homeless population, stating that the country has 8 million homeless people.
✅ Reality
▪The post provides no verifiable source or methodology for how the figure was calculated.
▪The account 'World of Statistics' cites 'World Population Review' as its source, which is merely an online platform that lacks recognized authority or academic credibility.
▪The website most commonly cited for these numbers, World Population Review (https://t.co/i3j9Wk0vpZ), attributes its data to Wikipedia and an OECD Report. However: -
* No mention of Pakistan appears anywhere in the referenced OECD homelessness report (https://t.co/7UliLqZ3bJ).
* The Wikipedia (page https://t.co/fc1ik0Z7fV) that includes this figure actually cites a United Nations Report on the Impact of the 2022 Floods in Pakistan. In that report, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, stated that “some eight million of the 33 million affected by the emergency remain acutely displaced” because floodwaters had not yet receded in some areas (https://t.co/p5GOfANZo6).
▪This statement clearly refers to temporary displacement due to a natural calamity, not chronic homelessness. Those eight million people were flood-affected families who later returned to their homes once recovery and rehabilitation began.
▪Equating disaster-displaced persons with the homeless population is methodologically false and grossly overstates the problem. It undermines the credibility of the aggregator websites and of any reports reproducing this number without context.
▪According to Pakistan’s 7th Population and Housing Census, the number of homeless people in the country is only 198,288 (https://t.co/Wscu7CzCGU).
▪On the contrary, the website shows India ranking 11th globally with 1.7 million homeless people based on the 2011 Census, a number that has risen sharply since then.

📊 Verdict:
The claim made by World of Statistics is false and greatly exaggerated, as official census data shows that the actual number of homeless people in Pakistan is far lower than stated. The number of 8 million originates from a misinterpretation of UN disaster-displacement figures after the 2022 floods, not from any official or demographic record of homelessness.
