@kenny_sports@Visionary_Mike I think he means the melodramatic pantomime story telling that is being told through a medium other than the match itself.
I don't love it either, but it's engrained in western TV wrestling to the point it's not going away. The story beats around these moments are what matter.
@OreGaTrae Unfortunately the repubs quickly managed to smear him in a way that resonated with normal people. He didn't respond strongly enough & it smothered his momentum. I hate it but it's true. They ran the same play book they did with Walz.
@Holy_Cow_Pod What does that mean? Capable? & what's easier to regulate/control, the price cocoa buyers pay farmers or restructuring an entire "society" from the ground up to rid it of child labor? Investments many are unwilling to do (see USAID). People should just admit you like it this way.
@Holy_Cow_Pod@CptAncapistan Why though? Who trades on cocoa futures, holds the power, and uses that power and force to deflate prices that keep farmers in extreme poverty? We don't get to just say, "well that's just how it is, can't do anything about it" because exploitative structures are already in place
@CptAncapistan Most people (and orgs) are concerned with the "worst forms of child labor" as defined by ILO Conv. 182-tied to forced/illicit/dangerous work. Child work like farm chores is of little concern. For cocoa, kids often work in poor/dangerous conditions & forced labor is an issue.
@Hoosier_V Growing up, my war vet, blue collar father wore shorts when it was hot & never seemed to give it a 2nd thought.
However, when I got older I noticed that dudes who are very concerned about seeming manly/tough/blue collar make a whole thing about it.
@stardream61016 Idk but it means something to kids. Multiple times my son has seen a commercial saying that and is like "#1?!?" as if it must be good because it's #1.
It works on kid, so I assume it also works on dumb people--which is kinda the target market of most films (biggest demographic).
I really dislike that most annual tournaments are used to decide the main event for a big show.
G1, King of the Ring, the Owen.
I like when winning the tournament is the prize in itself. When I was a kid, KotR felt big because just winning it was treated like a big deal.
@BrettFunkhouser@MrCharlesky Yeah L take. Nobody would want to be around me in the summer if I wore non-antiperspirant deodorant. It lasts about 2 hours.
