@PPeregrines I would say so. A fine looking peregrine with such dark flight feathers. She is a young bird....capable of breeding but we will see what happens.
@elliventoor@chorleynats I have been studying hobbies in Dorset for 20 years. A brood of 4 is a very rare thing, approx 4% of all broods recorded by BTO. I have seen it at only 4 nests in 20 years with approx 250 nests visited during that time. @DorsetStudy
Often people ask what the point of colour ringing birds is.
Not all birds are easy to re-catch in order to read their rings, it also reduce disturbance & field time
This Peregrine Falcon was ringed as a chick in 2021 & is now a breeding bird at that site.
Fantastic birds and data
A short clip of chough investigating a nest box a few days ago. Happy to be helping @NPWSIreland with @BirdWatchIE to set up a forthcoming live stream. Watch this space!
DRSG are pleased to have helped Stonewater Housing manage potential breeding peregrines at one of their sites. We have installed a bespoke nest box on Harbour Sails high-rise in Poole, Dorset (above ASDA). If peregrines use this box it will be safe and secure.
@harbourbirds There's only one lime green scheme and that is in Wales:https://t.co/gPaX7LFktm Tony Cross. One of his colour ringed hobbies was over Morden Bog years ago before darvics were being used.
@markwright12002@harbourbirds@DorsetBirdClub This bird was ringed as a chick in the Wareham Forest area (F.E.) July 2022 by the Dorset Raptor Study Group. 1st resighting of 20 birds colour ringed 21/22....very pleased!
