@TruthFringe@wef Is there still a parliament? Seems like all the processes have gone to the wayside, a CEO PM, milquetoast opposition, useless debate, and throttled committee. All falling in line..
Know what else is preposterous?
Overburdened Canadian taxpayers struggling to find housing, decent work or affordable food while billions of their tax dollars leave the country, even as we fail to adequately train Canadians for jobs that need filling right here at home.
Youth unemployment is painfully high. Weโve watched hundreds of people line up for a handful of entry-level jobs in our major cities. Housing is scarce, rents are obscene, food costs keep climbing, and public services are already straining to keep up.
This is why I believe immigration needs to stop, temporarily, until we get our own house, Canada, back in order.
That isnโt anti-immigrant. In fact, continuing to bring people into a country that cannot currently provide enough housing, employment opportunities or affordable living for the people already here isnโt particularly fair to newcomers either.
What exactly are we inviting them to?
Come to Canada. Compete with hundreds of other people for an entry-level job. Spend half your income renting a bedroom. Join the housing line. Join the doctor line. Join the daycare line. And please enjoy your complimentary lecture about how wonderfully everything is working.
Brilliant sales brochure.
Immigration should benefit Canada and the people Canada invites here. When population growth consistently outruns our ability to provide housing, infrastructure, health care and employment opportunities, continuing at the same pace isn't compassion. It's terrible planning.
And there is another consequence politicians seem determined to discuss only after it becomes a crisis.
When Canadians who are already struggling see more people arriving to compete for the same scarce jobs, housing and services, frustration grows. Keep ignoring that pressure and eventually legitimate anger over government policy starts being directed at immigrants themselves.
That is unfair to everybody.
Immigrants didn't set Canada's immigration targets. They didn't create the housing shortage. They didn't design our labour-market policies. Governments did.
So stop treating immigration as though the only choices are unlimited enthusiasm or hatred of immigrants.
Sometimes the responsible thing to do when your house is overcrowded, undersupplied and increasingly unaffordable is to stop inviting more people through the door until you've fixed the damn house.
Mark Carney went from being the high priest of net zero when his GFANZ scheme was being pushed on the world, but when the banks ultimately rejected it he needed to flip. This man pushed for policies to all but keep oil & gas in the ground now he says :
โOil demand will continue to be significant for decades to come. So the question is, who will emerge as the world's trusted suppliers? It should be us. It must be Canada."
Iโm not disagreeing with his decision to want to make a new pipeline, but a guy that acts like this canโt be trusted. His motives are unclear.
In 2021 he wrote the book (Values) this is a paragraph from it:
โTo meet the 1.5ยฐC target, more than 80 per cent of current fossil fuel reserves (including three-quarters of coal, half of gas, one-third of oil) would need to stay in the ground, stranding these assets. The equivalent for less than 2ยฐC is about 60 per cent of fossil fuel assets staying in the ground (where they would no longer be assets).โ
So as you can see, Iโm skeptical about this complete 180 he has pulled. The guy is a scheming snake, he makes decisions & deals behind our backs, there is no doubt something is up.
