@VVoxie@RyanMcbeth Wait you thought it was to take land? You can't believe the story of bringing democracy to a place like that. Obviously it was prolonged to benefit certain industries. Dick Chaney was involved after all. But yeah how was UBL and Saddam not one of the main reasons? Why else stay?
@VVoxie@RyanMcbeth UBL and Saddam would like a word with you. Oh yeah, they are not around. Pretty sure they were the main reasons why the USA entered those campaigns.
@glassysquirrel You're reaching so hard. She also told him to settle it without force. He told her he wouldn’t invade while talks were going. Then he invaded.
@glassysquirrel 1979 made the 80s war more likely. Saddam still decided to invade a neighbor over debt and oil. That’s on him. USA didn’t put his tanks in Kuwait City.
@glassysquirrel That’s a retreating army that hadn’t surrendered. Ceasefire wasn’t in effect yet. Retreating is still a military act.
Leaving Kuwait in military vehicles doesn’t make them civilians. One-sided fight. No court or UN tribunal prosecuted it as a war crime.
@glassysquirrel Declaration of war point still stands legally. Congress hasn’t declared one since ’42. But if we’re playing your game, Desert Storm USA was in the winning side and a good example of conventional warfare.
@glassysquirrel Congress last issued a formal declaration of war in World War II. Everything after that — Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Afghanistan, Iraq, and smaller operations — was not a declared war. They fit under AUMFs, UN resolutions + presidential "police action", and contingency operations.
@glassysquirrel@Athena_is_her Last war USA was in was WW2. Everything after were campaigns and conflicts. Look at conflict desert storm as a good example of conventional vs conventional warfare. That's what usa is good at. Not insurgency which Canada will probably have to rely on to stand a chance.
