In 2019 we signed an agreement to establish the #WHOAcademy in Lyon; in 2021 we broke ground, and yesterday we opened the doors of the Academy together.
Merci, mon ami President @EmmanuelMacron, for this invaluable gift to global health!
🎉 It is official: the #WHOAcademy has opened its door to the world!
I'm truly honoured and privileged to be part of this historic moment for @WHO and global health.
My deepest gratitude to President @EmmanuelMacron for his personal engagement and leadership since the inception, and to #France for its strong commitment to the success of this project.
In just three weeks, on December 17th, I will join President @EmmanuelMacron in Lyon to formally open the #WHOAcademy.
This ceremony marks the culmination of a journey that began seven years ago. The Academy is one of several initiatives from the @WHO Transformation aimed at building the capacities of both WHO’s workforce and Member States.
Our vision is simple yet powerful: a world where every health and care worker, policymaker, and WHO team member is equipped with the skills and competencies necessary to achieve health for all.
I would like to thank #France and all the Member States who believed in this idea and supported us in making it a reality!
Thank you to 🇫🇷 🇮🇩 🇯🇵 🇶🇦 and 🇷🇼 for launching the Group of Friends of the #WHOAcademy during #WHA77
We appreciate your commitment to strengthening the capacity of health workers globally, ensuring universal health coverage.
