@mkainerugaba Even if they elected to go to court , what is the dispute ? There’s absolutely no reason to. There’s no reward in wasting people’s time and resources .
@mattmadis@humble_nelly@Ugaman01 Haha..the matter you guys want engage in is a bit technical. You may ask AI for the meaning of the following: 1) effective date; 2) commencement date; and date clause in a document.
Again this post is addressed to those well meaning people who have been duped to sympathize with Best Kemigisa as she tries to desecrate our cultural heritage. Many of you have said this is not the right moment to attack the former queen mother because she is grieving the loss of her son, late King Oyo. Here is my reply on timing.
Best Kemigisa has not been grieving her son, she has been scheming to usurp power in our kingdom. Which mother in the midst of grief would have the audacity to invent a non existent child to succeed the throne? Which grieving mother would be calling and lying to the president of the country??
It is now more than two weeks since Oyo died. If he left a son, can she produce the son or at least a photo of him? Even in her own funeral speech at the church service, she made no reference to the existence of that son. Does anyone know of a person who died and the family did not show, or even mention, the existence of their only child? Please!!!
On September 9, 2025, Best Kemigisa hosted a baptism party for her grandson, the child of her daughter Ruth Komuntale. She gave a public speech where she said she has one grand child and asked Oyo to find a queen and give him another grand child. One year later, Oyo had produced a 3 year old boy. I attach a story in Daily Monitor of September 11, 2025 referring to this event on this tweet.
Where does a grieving mother find the wherewithal to engage in such fraud? And we are asked to give her time to “grieve” when she is using “grief” to hoist her grand nephew onto our throne. We are asked to exercise restraint, to be understanding, to be tolerant, to be quiet, to be respectful as she takes over our kingdom!! NOOOO!
When all these schemes were foiled, she refused to release the body from the palace to church. The army intervened to release it. Then she tried to pull another stunt at the royal burial grounds and literally delayed the burial by more than two hours beyond what custom demands. Again it took the army to wrestle the body from her, and this after the president had personally called and pleaded with her to be reasonable. Again we are asked to ignore this, to allow her to “grieve”!
So please, don’t falsely accuse Best Kemigisa of grieving. If she did, it was not necessarily grief of losing a son. That was secondary. Her primary grief was loss of power. That is what matters most to her. And it is the reason she has spent most of the time since King Oyo’s death manipulating public opinion by feigning grief to win sympathy and then use this to desecrate our most valued customs and traditions.
Batooro have been very accommodating, tolerant, respectful and forgiving of her many transgressions over the years. This is what gave her license to walk over the Royal clan; to exercise impunity, and to disregard our culture. Not anymore!
@humble_nelly@Ugaman01 Unlike you. My training is to interpret documents and how the were constructed. That's why even when I see dates you seem to refer to under the each of purported signatories, I still say its undated.
As we speak, Tooro already has a new King, rituals confirming him have been performed, the 9 coffee beans were cast in the grave, etcetera. What remains are mere ceremonies. In Busoga, after Columbus had been elected Kyabazinga, it took another seating of the Lukiiko to overturn his election. The Ababiito made their choice, it is the Babiito who can change it!
Before many of you get very excited, the learned AG’s opinion is just that, an Opinion, and not a Judgement of court. It doesn't bind anyone! Running to a will (which as courts have already decided can govern the king’s personal affairs) or Tooro constitution to argue your point misses the point, because the very foundation of Tooro Kingdom is rebellion and illegality, against Bunyoro. Meaning, “legal means” and becoming an Omukama are not necessarily synonymous! The most important consideration is, in my opinion, is the recognition of the Babiito!
For now the remedy of any aggrieved individuals is to go to court, where even their chance of success is very slim, why? Because becoming an Omukama of Tooro is a matter of customs, rituals and culture! All these predate any wills, or kingdom constitution! If there is any doubt on who should be king, these will be the places of last resort!
The custodians of these customs, rituals and culture spoke as one voice and installed an Omukama.
Interestingly, it is these very individuals, the Babiito elders, who can authoritatively speak as experts on how to become and Omukama in court. And I speak as one who has ever argued a matter relating to the subject at hand! For now Long Live the King

“Why are you selling children [your daughters]”
May I never get to a level of ‘bukopi’, Fred and shamelessness that would make me demand for material things in exchange for my daughter
