But it increased demand, making it more profitable to keep coal fired plant (including aging brown coal) up and running while also increasing the spot price of energy and the cost that each of us pays for retail electricity. By doing what they did, they only prolonged the life of fossil fuel baseload power in the rest of the Eastern states.
