We stand together asking that the @fcpsnews School Board reconsider and adopt the original language of the Truth in Teaching Resolution.
Do it for our students, teachers, and our schools.

We concur with student rep Togbe:
@micheletogbe
“Students are watching this… it is a step forward, and amending it to the weak and hollow statements and words, where originally it was strong and clear does not make sense to me….get this right.”

Louder for the SB members in the front 📢📢📢!!
Kweli's comments last night pretty much sum up how we feel about the bait and switch at last night's school board meeting.

We're disappointed but honestly not surprised by what went down at last night's SB meeting. Shout out to @Ricardy4Mason @KeysGamarraFCPS & @MelanieForEdu who remained steadfast against the spineless amended version of the Teach Truth Resolution.
Dr. Kweli Zukeri represents @fam4va. He says thank you to those who supported the resolution. The change was underhanded and undermined the substance of the message. If you are against anti-racism, then you may be pro-racism, or privileged enough to not experience racism, or
we’re at the school board meeting where the Truthful Education Resolution that we’ve been pushing will be voted on. this resolution clearly shows support for social justice and equity based, anti racist work in our schools.
@stella_pekarsky @ElaineTholen @RachnaFCPSSB ignoring the fact that they specifically took out the word antiracist, and that superintendent expressed strong support for resolution, and instead giving many excuses, largely feeling excluded from a process that they knew all about
Ms. Anderson reads the resolution for Truth in Education (before the revised version below.) @fam4va
It is in direct alignment with FCPS equity and educational goals. It recognizes the challenges of teachers and supports teaching the truth, even if conversations can be tough.
@AbrarOmeish points out the importance of education for our liberation, and that liberatory education was originally in our resolution but that was even an issue for some on the board. points out anti bias work originated from the work of preschool teachers
