I usually avoid talking about this stuff. But in 12th grade my bestfriend was hit by a car in a parking lot just like this. She was paralyzed. Her name was Emilee.
The person was adjusting the GPS mounted on their dashboard. They weren’t even going very fast, you don’t have to be for this behavior to be irreversibly dangerous. Em had a full ride college scholarship from playing volleyball. She liked to ride horses. She didn’t get to dance at prom. She ended up taking her own life.
I know Emily doesn’t mean to put people at risk. Doesn’t need to be berated online. Probably means it when they say they’ll do better. It just takes a second for everything to change. For something catastrophic to happen.
