It’s 2am Friday, and 10 degrees outside with a wind chill of -6… the power has been out since 2:30-3 o’clock Thursday afternoon. I’m still up, adding logs to the fire every 45 mins.
Abbott… ERCOT… whomever… HOW are you all NEVER properly prepared for this? Seriously… HOW?!!
@SuedeNew Suede, hop in your blue shoes and get the fuck out of my mentions. You’ve only been on here since 2020… you’re a toddler, and it shows. I admonish you to refrain from being contrarian for the sake of likes. Not with me. I promise, it won’t go the way you think it will. ✌🏽😘
According to reports on the USGS website, the Magnitude 5.4 earthquake centered near Midland was felt:
As far east as DFW, Austin, & San Antonio
As far west as El Paso & Albuquerque
As far north as Amarillo #StormTracker9
@bunnycartoon At this point, it wouldn’t shock me one bit if a volcano just popped up and erupted in the middle of nowhere in Texas. I think that may be the only thing we don’t get out here! 😂😂
Anybody else in DFW feel the ground shaking? I’m upstairs in my bedroom, and, (I know im not losing my mind) I’m sitting here, watching my legs and bed rocking back and forth.
I really think we just had an earthquake.
@bunnycartoon We definitely did!! This one lasted longer than any earthquake I’ve felt out here. It had so much DEPTH!
I just saw a news alert about a 5.3 magnitude earthquake that happened in Midland around the same time today, so, I’m guessing we felt it all the way out here!
@medbrotha I mean… you’re a doctor. So you understand that men can procreate, practically, forever… women, on the other hand, don’t have that luxury. And there’s a great number of us who want to become mothers, but prefer not to wait until we’re considered “geriatric” to become pregnant.
@medbrotha I, actually, agree with her tweet. It’s something I’m considering myself. Either a random donor, or a friend being a donor. I, truly, want to be a mother, and I prefer not to wait until I’m 40+ to birth kids. And I won’t rush into a relationship just to have them, either.
But I digress…
Anyway… I really hope we can normalize being more mindful with our words and how we use them… especially when specificity, clarity, and understanding are imperative. And with that… I hope we can, also, chill out with the self-righteous judgments.
Goodnight😘
🥴
I think we should be careful with how we choose to structure our words when speaking about things like this; specifically in reference to Black Women. Opinions like this often appear rooted in Westernized assimilation and cloaked in this false propinquity to White proximity.
Pregnancy announcement on national tv without a husband is an embarrassment. Do Asian women do that? Or White women? We have got to stop normalizing Black women being single mothers. Mother and father as husband and wife! Together! Announce that!
This understanding SHOULD be normalized, because single parents will always exist.
And including them (men&women) in spaces and conversations where we speak about parents/relationships/marriage should, be normalized so we can gain wisdom into their experiences and judge less.
