We've been multitasking House and Senate hearings as we approach Thursday's deadline. We just jumped into the hearing of SB 1677 in the Senate, a bill which could put 2SLGBTQ+ youth into foster and adoptive homes that would subject them to so-called conversion therapy.

A child has now died.
Nex Benedict (they/them) was a nonbinary child. They were beaten, viciously in a high school bathroom of Owasso High School. They died the next day in the hospital.

his family came to my house that night because my mom was on the school board. his dad brought photos of his child’s face bloodied and brutalized.

this is bringing up a lot for me today. in high school, I ran through the hall screaming for help as a peer beat a boy in my grade to a bloody pulp for thinking he was gay. that boy came very close to dying the way Nex did. cold blood, in their SCHOOL, murdered for hate.
