⠀⠀ ⠀ a small inhale catches on the edge of his throat as eskel changes their positions—he isn’t quite sure where the pain is coming from as every part of his body is throbbing in different intervals, but only seconds after moving, he already feels much more comfortable than ~

[ESKEL .ᐟ @lupuscicatrix]

< he knows he’d rather die than that .

“ we’ll get out of here ,” he promises instead . “ and we’ll make sure none of these men tell anybody shit .”

[* 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐑. @fangedmelodics]

~ he doesn’t believe he deserves.

“I can agree with that. they won’t retain their tongues for much longer, much less their lives.”

his words were bathed in the fury of not only a monster scorned, but a man who valued his family above all else, and who’s family has now ~

~ holding the wolf up, and the fact that they could be listening in on their conversation.

this will not be easy to explain, and he knows this as his throat begins to constrict.

“they. . .wish to know the whereabouts of the other vipers, I assume under the orders of ehmyr.”

[* 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐑. @fangedmelodics]

⠀⠀ ⠀ “eskel, stop,”

his raspy voice is as firm as he can manage it, refusing to listen to the wolf witcher’s pleads and apologies. what eskel didn’t know was that he was already there; there was no possible comparison between the two. what eskel had done in following ~

[ESKEL .ᐟ @lupuscicatrix]

< maybe he should’ve listened to the viper after all .

he dug his fingers into a bruise blooming over his thigh to stop himself passing out again .

“ what did they do to you ? what do they want ?”

[* 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐑. @fangedmelodics]

~ he wouldn’t fall back into the cold ground.

“it’s not your fault. it will never be your fault, do you understand? you have nothing to be sorry for, brother.”

soon enough, however, his tone became softer. more of a whisper as both his energy began to deplete and focus on ~

[* 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐑. @fangedmelodics]

~ barely form a breath. continuing to clean away the red from eskel’s forehead.

“are you alright? how is your vision, can you see me?”

[* 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐑. @fangedmelodics]

⠀⠀ ⠀ upon the calling of his shortened name, cassair lightly shushed the man. hands that were ruthless in battle now gentle as he pushed against eskel’s body in order to force them back down.

“you were hit; badly, you have to keep your head still.”

coming from ~

[ESKEL .ᐟ @lupuscicatrix]

< he tried to sit up but his left shoulder screamed . they had torn the bolt out , but it was likely that it had done some damage to the bone beneath .

eskel ignored it . all his attention was on cassair , blurry eyes scanning his brother’s form for signs of severe injury .

[* 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐑. @fangedmelodics]

~ the one who had sustained major injuries all over his body from various beatings and torturous methods, yet his concern was only on the other wolf.

why had he come?
he shouldn’t have. guilt washed over the viper like a heavy wave, pulling him down until he could ~

[* 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐑. @fangedmelodics]

~
this should never have happened.
it was all his fault.

“eskel. . .” he whispers, despite knowing the wolf is still unconscious. he cannot stop himself as he leans forward to gently rest his forehead on the other’s. “I’m so sorry.”

[* 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐑. @fangedmelodics]

⠀⠀ ⠀ his scream died on his lips as the flames were suddenly jolted away from his form. having no choice but to lean back against the cell wall as he regained his vision that had gone blurry from the pain. he hears movements, smells a familiar presence nearby ~

[ESKEL .ᐟ @lupuscicatrix]

< his limp form was dragged into the same cell as cassair and thrown at his feet .

their captors smirked at the proof solidly given to the viper ; he had resisted , and now his friends suffered .

the men put down their tools and they were , for the moment , left alone .

[* 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐑. @fangedmelodics]

~ have had something to help. but now, he is completely and utterly useless.

the only thing he can do is tear off the edge of his sleeve in order to clean the blood away. all the while, his trembling only worsens as rage begins to swirl around the cocktail of emotions. ~
