Japanese summers can be harsh. Here are some tips to stay safe:
1. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids like Pocari Sweat, Aquarius, to keep electrolytes up
2. Carry a UV-protective umbrella
3. Use cooling wipes from convenience stores
4. Wear lightweight, UV-repellent clothing
What not to bring to Japan for your first visit:
-Too many clothes - you’ll rewear items & likely shop here
-Hairdryer/styler - may not work with Japan’s voltage
-Snacks - unless you have dietary needs
-Full makeup bag - drugstores here are a beauty paradise
-Full-size toiletries
What to bring to Japan if it’s your first time:
-Comfy shoes - you’ll walk a lot, but you can buy them here too
-Pack light - even if you swear you won’t shop… you will
-International card + some yen - not everywhere takes cards
-Pocket Wi-Fi or eSIM.
What else would you bring?
Ice cream is everywhere in Japan -even in vending machines with tons of options! Here are some of my favorite konbini ice creams, but I recommend trying out as many as you can!
🍦Brulee
🍦Black Thunder
🍦Yukimi Daifuku
🍦Coolish
🍦Choco Monaka Jumbo
So, what’s your favorite one?
