I last saw you and Papa together more than 35 years ago. Since the day Papa left, I have watched you face everything life threw at you with never-ending courage and dignity. Only Priyanka and I really know what you have been through, and how difficult your life after Papa truly was.

I am happy, and so proud, that your story - “Belonging: A Journey of Love” - will finally be read by the millions of people who love you. I know how hard it was for someone as private as you to tell the world your beautiful story.

Long Post on Political Ecosystem on Social Media and Amit Malviya: I have been on Twitter since 2009. I have seen the BJP IT Cell being formed, and was among the first few who took them on when they were completely dominating this platform. So here are some thoughts on Amit Malviya being removed.

The BJP IT Cell came up in 2009 and by 2010 they were everywhere on Twitter. Massive numbers. They used to run amok and there was nobody to stop them. This went on for a few years. There were hardly 10 to 15 of us taking on an IT Cell running in thousands. Congress woke up to social media only around 2012-13 and even after that, till about 2015, they were doing just about decent stuff. There were more people from Congress fighting the BJP IT cell and it was a good match though BJP still had the upper hand.

Then a few things happened. AAP’s social media joined the party and suddenly BJP was fighting on two fronts and getting outflanked. Around the same time Amit Malviya became the IT Cell chief. In 2017 Divya Spandana came in as Congress social media lead and that changed the game. She brought spunk and loads of fresh ideas. The whole communication strategy changed and Congress got its energy back online.

Coming back to Amit Malviya. He became notorious for the trolls, but honestly he was not doing anything new. He was just following the BJP template. BJP has always ruled by mobs, brute force, police, power. Zero creativity. Whatever the crisis, the answer is the same, unleash the mob. Amit Malviya took the same thing online. Trolls instead of mobs. And he had the power to order the Godi Journalists to do whatever they wanted and that was the whole strategy for years.

Then 2026 happened. GenZ got vocal, BJP used exactly the same strategy, and it did not work. They have never moved on from the mob mentality, online or offline. Congress by then had become genuinely good at communication. INC Kerala brought the spunk, Congress was leading on Instagram, and Rahul Gandhi’s persona added to it.

So after the GenZ protest debacle of course Amit Malviya had to go. But he was never the problem. BJP will carry on the same way because they have nobody who can give them a fresh and clear perspective. Just look at their latest outreach, making reels thinking GenZ will be impressed, while the same GenZ is sitting and laughing at that communication.

Amit Malviya only represented what the BJP is. He implemented the party template online and now ironically he is being punished for it. Maybe he will be rewarded with a Rajya Sabha seat but he failed because he just followed the BJP workbook
