Really!
You write of me in your stories, and poetry and somehow I wake up in your quarters.
But I really must be going, I’m a professional and it would be a profundity for me to shirk dutiful responsibilities, who knows what could go wrong!
I’m not merely a working lady, as you would have me—I’m an agent of the state!
Now. Take your hands off of me. I must leave for duty. Good day, sir!
Ever feel like you wish the world would simply blow up?
Yeah. That’s me.
But with the weight of the responsibility on my shoulders, at making sure exactly that doesn’t happen, I don’t get such conveniences.
No. I have to get up and go to the job. Do the song, and fight the bad guy.
Because it’s my job to make sure she never cries again…
That little girl inside of me that just won’t shut up.
Is this really how you live?
What would the mother who raised you say about this? And your attitude!
That of a spoiled boy.
No. I can’t. I couldn’t leave this place like this, move along.
I will show you what a good woman will do for you, as your dear mother no doubt would’ve.
Don’t think this makes me yours, this is merely a responsible formality because I was raised right!
As the time has flown, I assume, I’ve forgotten myself.
Stuck in a haze, a chaos I refuse to allow to play out. My head knocks but I refuse to open.
I wish I was home in my bed, before the boom that brought ringing in my ears. The blood that I wiped from my face that wasn’t mine. The tears that soaked my chin.
If I could just close my eyes here and pretend I was safe from it all.
Why can’t it be just like that?
