"Identity is not merely a marker of who we are, it is a gateway to participation, opportunity, and dignity. By strengthening identity systems, we lay the foundation for more inclusive, responsive, and resilient societies across Africa."
These were the powerful opening remarks shared by Principal Secretary Dr. Belio R. Kipsang as he led the Kenyan delegation at the ID4Africa 2026 Annual General Meeting in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Speaking on Kenya’s transformative journey, Dr. Kipsang emphasized that identity must be viewed as a lifelong story shaped by real implementation and practical reforms.
A strong, multi-sectoral team is representing Kenya to ensure our digital transformation is holistic. The mission includes a high-level technical representation from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy (ICT) and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) as well as heads of directorates from the State Department.
