Today we remember the men of the 36th (Ulster) Division, whose courage at the Battle of the Somme on 1st July 1916 stands among the finest examples of valour in British military history.
They were loyal British men who answered their country's call without hesitation. Drawn from towns, villages and cities across Ulster, they advanced into the storm of enemy fire with remarkable courage, capturing their objectives against overwhelming odds and earning an enduring place in Britain's history.
Their achievement came at a terrible cost. Thousands were killed, wounded or missing, yet they never faltered in their duty. Their loyalty, discipline and sacrifice remain an inspiration more than a century later.
The men of the 36th (Ulster) Division fought for King and Country, for one another, and for Britain. Their courage under fire and unwavering resolve ensured that their names would never be forgotten.
Today we honour those loyal British men who gave everything on the fields of the Somme.

This guy got on the bus, flat out refused to pay, and figured the driver wouldnโt do anything.
She pulled away, and he thought he had won. Turns out he got exactly one block of free transportation before she pulled into a gas station where police were already parked.
So if you think about it, he still owes her that dollar.
