@WoodyZuill Remembering GOTO 2019 in Berlin 😊

[Prof Julia Steinberger @JKSteinberger]

As floods & fires rise, oceans boil & ice melts, and "safe" temperatures are breached, something momentous just happened in the heart of the EU. No one has heard about it: journalists were present, but their editors refused to publish 🤯.

Eclipse Migration Toolkit for Java (EMT4J) Simplifies Upgrading #Java Applications https://t.co/GHuTHjkc06

[Mario Fusco @mariofusco]

Contrary to common belief GC are not only necessary to automatically free memory, but also to compact objects still in use, thus improving data locality and reducing the risk of cache misses.

@shipilev demonstrates this in a simple but brilliant way https://t.co/HYpJIGPwQ8

@jreuben1 @stilkov And not to forget the Joys and Woes of the Craft of Programming

RIP Fred Brooks https://t.co/0D4CSajaax - he gave us "The Mythical Man-Month", "No Silver Bullet", and the 8-bit byte via the IBM OS/360

[Faramant 360 @Faramant360]

That is sad news. I will ever remember the joys and woes of the Craft from his Mythical Man Month.
May he meet the joy he was talking about.

@tottinge @ewolff @kelseyhightower At this time Java was still called Algol 68.

@Sc_Meerkat @b0rk Exactly this is one of the more seldom applications of unit testing: Verify using a unit test that the library works as expected. Also guards against changes in new library versions.

Kurz, was ist ein #Passivhaus:
1. gute Wärmedämmung (30cm dick) um die Transmissionsverluste zu reduzieren.
2. Fenster mit 3-fach Verglasung,
3. Südorientiert - die Sonne heizt mit
4. Dachdämmung 40cm
5. Lüftungsanlage mit Wärmerückgewinnung.

so einfach.

[Martin Hundhausen @M_Hundhausen]
