For a controlling, intransigent, and authoritarian person like Pheem, having her woman ask for her permission is one of her greatest satisfactions; Pan directly fed her ego.

🧸: Miu might be the top in real life, but when it comes to P’Lena, I can only be the bottom.
🦋: When I’m with other people, I’m the bottom. When I’m with Miu, I’m the top. Miu is the top with other people but when she’s with me, she’s the bottom.

I understand and agree that patriarchy is a global issue and no series is immune to criticism; just because a show provides sapphic visibility doesn’t mean we have to praise everything about it. However, my point isn't to shut down debate, but to call out the lack of empathy and the superficial way the international fandom judges realities we don't fully understand.
There is a massive difference between constructive criticism and simply insulting a production or labeling it as 'cowardly' or 'immature.' By doing that, people completely ignore censorship laws, financial risks, and the slow but steady steps the local community has to take in their own country. Appreciating the pacing and subtlety of these stories isn’t 'cute' or naive; it’s simply understanding that progress and rights don’t happen at the same time or in the same way everywhere in the world
Sometimes I’m shocked by how disrespectful international fans can be toward Thai GL. People speak so lightly about how the plots 'aren't brave enough' to show bolder things, or how they don't address social issues properly. They claim it’s a culture rooted in patriarchy and a purity mindset toward women, without a single shred of remorse while throwing around prejudices and assumptions about the people who actually live there.
Honestly? WTF? What is that? At the very least, have some respect for a country’s culture. Educate yourselves before talking so much nonsense, because international fandoms often fall into ethnocentrism—judging Asian productions through a 100% Western lens and demanding they meet their own cultural standards without stopping to understand the local context. The mere fact that there is visibility for these sapphic stories on broadcast television is already a significant step forward and a giant act of bravery.
Appreciating Thai GL also means learning to respect its pace, its subtlety, and its way of storytelling. If you aren't capable of respecting and opening your mind to a different narrative, you're the one with the maturity problem, not the series. More empathy and respect, please.
