A sort of apathy and irritance washes over me whenever I see younger Nintendo fans make media posts about banal moments in games they're discovering for the first time (And games I beat and experienced eons ago) to farm engagement online with.
@mariotwtconfess A scam implies you didn't know about what the actual product had, which clearly wasn't the case with MKW. An actual Mario game scam would be Sticker Star or Origami King.
I'm now wondering if it made any logistical sense to waste 8 years developing a 3D Donkey Kong game with the 3D Mario EPD team as opposed to a new 3D Mario to launch the Nintendo Switch 2 with. Bananza is a great game, but it seems Odyssey will forever loom over it like a shadow.
Sometimes I lie awake at night depressed over what happened to the Paper Mario series after TTYD on account of Kensuke Tanabe. It's like, even if the next new PM game follows the first 2 games again I'll still feel like, very very bitter about it? You wasted a decade of my life.
@Nin10Nostalgia I'd rather not, but the gaming industry is so fucked economically speaking that it will just become the new normal. I'm delving into indie games more and more now instead of the big publishers. A grand majority of them are weak retro homages, but some are legit gems.
@SpeederLight1 Just another mediocre offering by a mediocre dev (Arzest). Only desperate hanger-ons too obsessed with the Sonic franchise defend it. Everyone else mentally checked out after Mania. The fact this is taking scattered bits from a Mania 2 is just salt to the wound.
Peach fans are some of the worst people in the Mario fandom. They all type in lowercase and talk like teenage girls and are combative with every other character fandom to a fault, usually stoking the flames themselves. Fitting, since the Mario movie Peach is a total bitch.
But I don't think "anime" fans are ready to have this discussion because they keep poisoning the well and deflecting by saying scrimblo fans hate ALL forms of anime.
Fans of anime games like Xenoblade and FE don't understand where scrimblo fans are coming from. They strawman by saying we hate ALL anime and are hypocritical for consuming Nintendo content, which is anime in some areas. No, the problem is your anime games are samey as fuck.
I actually like anime, like a lot. I especially like anime that doesn't adhere to the same basic bitch tropes of medieval fantasy with same-face syndrome fighting god or the church or whatever. All these recent titles all blur into a samey paste. THAT there is the issue.
@OctorokR Yeah, it really is a shame. I had no issues with BotW, but ToTK sadly only adds experimental gameplay on top of a base with none of its original flaws addressed. It's like glorified DLC in a sense. The story is also an outsourced mess in the sequel that barely honors BotW.
@VGMuseum1 Isn't the end of every level technically a Yoshi house for each color of the Yoshi clan? It was a relay race to bring Baby Mario to Baby Luigi and the stork after all.
@TcTechnetium Dunno, I think Mario has been doing fine. We haven't had any major stinkers yet so far. It all depends on how the next Paper Mario shakes out, but even then I think we'll never hit the lows of the 2010s ever again.
@AnAverageGamerX Kart customization ends up being minmaxed meta nonsense with ugly combos and most if not all Mario fans bemoan a potential "Smash Kart". MK8 is a product of Wii U era desperation.
