A noteworthy milestone in advancing cultural understanding and professional capacity building was marked on 29 June 2026 with the inauguration of a specialized Japanese Language Program by the Faculty of Arts at The Maldives National University (MNU) for staff of Maldives Immigration.
The inauguration ceremony, held at MNU, highlighted the university’s dedication to creating learning opportunities that connect communities, broaden perspectives, and support workforce development. The event was graced by Chief Guest Her Excellency Ishigami Rumiko, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Maldives.
Tailored to the needs of immigration professionals, the program focuses on developing practical Japanese language skills and cultural competence, enabling participants to engage confidently and effectively with Japanese visitors.
As a national institution committed to educational excellence and community impact, MNU continues to foster initiatives that strengthen international cooperation, encourage lifelong learning, and equip professionals with the skills needed in an increasingly interconnected world.
