CAMEA @ISSI organized a public talk under its Distinguished Lecture Series titled, ‘Rethinking Europe’s Middle East Policy: Balancing Interests and Values.’ The Distinguished Speaker on the occasion was Dr. Flavius Caba-Maria, President of the Middle East Political and Economic Institute (@EastEconomic), Romania. The talk was attended by diplomats, academics, students, practitioners, and members of civil society.
CAMEA @ ISSI held a roundtable on Current Situation in Afghanistan &its Implications for Pakistan & the Region. Participants observed that while Afghanistan faces complex challenges with regional implications, there is a shared interest in stability. They emphasised sustained dialogue, constructive engagement & mutual understanding between Pakistan & Afghanistan as essential for long-term regional stability.
Dr. Yasar Ayaz, Chairman of Pakistan’s National Center of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), proposed joint research and innovation initiatives in AI, robotics, and advanced imaging technologies.
The second working session, moderated by Dr. Amina Khan of ISSI, centered on economic integration and people-to-people ties. Speakers emphasized Pakistan’s role as a maritime gateway and Kazakhstan’s position as a Eurasian land bridge. Discussions highlighted transport corridors, joint ventures, visa facilitation, SME collaboration, tourism, and academic exchanges as critical drivers of sustainable partnership.
From Vision to Implementation
In the concluding session, former Federal Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan described bilateral ties as entering a decisive phase, structured across political dialogue, trade, transport, education, science, climate cooperation, and regional coordination. He urged both sides to move from conceptual agreements to practical implementation, focusing on digital connectivity, financial integration, youth engagement, and enhanced security cooperation.
In his closing remarks, Ambassador Khalid Mahmood called the joint declaration and MoUs a practical roadmap for the future, emphasizing effective implementation and continued cooperation on regional security, counterterrorism, Afghanistan, and Kashmir.
The conference concluded with a shared commitment to sustained engagement, institutional collaboration, and follow-up initiatives aimed at fully realizing the objectives of the newly established strategic partnership.
