If you want to see over regulation of small businesses in a chart @elonmusk check out the ground beef line. Yes, four companies control 86% of beef trade in the US yet the @USDAFoodSafety did almost all testing of ground beef in small and very small establishments.
@BrookeLRollins Does this mean a rollback of regulations on the biggest players (the chevrons of ag) or a comprehensive look at regulatory burden of all producers? @GGunthorp
American pork producers should be the ones screaming this from the rooftops but instead are engaged in the industry hush up. Why? JBS, Tyson, Smithfield, and others are the reason why this is happening. Speak the truth American Farmers!

@JaysonLusk @Dan14828409 I agree the scale is massive. I think there needs to be a regional network of 10M lb/year facilities. Prime Act could be a first step.
I joined @farmbuilder1 Jordan Green to talk about the need for the PRIME Act and how farmers and activists can help get it passed. Here’s the interview:

Just remember when you see empty shelves that 100,000 pigs are being shot, gassed, or bludgeoned to death before being buried in a landfill EACH DAY.
This is brought to you by a monopolized meat packing industry that has manipulated regulation for a century.

Because of plant closures and slowdowns, we are processing about 40% fewer pigs, which means an extra 500,000*0.4 = 200,000 pigs that are left on the farm. Every. Single Day. Do that for 5 days, and that’s 1 million “excess” pigs left on the farm. https://t.co/VmlW3voHka
@SOA_USA@RepThomasMassie@chelliepingree Love the concept. Would also add @USDA should suspend federal inspection requirements for state and exempted facilities for interstate sale of meats during the #COVID19 crisis. Much demand for local meats but bottlenecks at processing facilities is hindering efforts!
