@KristaEin1 Absolutely, I'd be lying if I said I put all my energy into wrapping up the quarter, there are more important places to put our energy right now, and we shouldn't be apologetic for it #blacklivesmatter#envir492
I have felt incredibly fortunate to have the POE faculty as my leaders, and I am eternally grateful to them for their inimitable teaching. But I have also noticed the faces that are not there. What are we doing about it? Hopefully something, and soon. #ENVIR492
Our program is overwhelmingly white, and even more overwhelmingly non-black. It's a fact that troubles me, and it's one of the biggest things I've learned in my time at UW. How can we advocate for equity with so many voices missing from the conversation? #ENVIR492
I also am reflecting upon the faults of my research: not including a diverse community of voices in my interviews is a huge hole in my data. I will continue this project post-grad and will do my research to include and raise voices of marginilized farmers #envir492
Reflecting on the capstone experience: I'm stoked to have found my passion in life through my internship and overall experience. I feel incredibly lucky #envir492
The scene at Forever 21: People turn out in downtown Seattle on Sunday morning to scrub businesses damaged in Saturday’s protests. More at https://t.co/UyflOgdeRm @seattletimes
ALSO: RAD HUMAN ALERT @ClinchDuke and I got to TA Urban Farm this quarter and I have been so lucky to get to work with him and his energy!!! Farmer pals 4 LIFE! Also a great sounding board through this entire quarter so THANK YOU #envir492
My page is beginning to look like a @bela8299 fan club, but hear me out-- this lady has taught me so much from her research on sustainable livestock grazing to farmers to follow on social media to get perspective from non-white farmers #envir492
@bela8299 what an incredible quote from your interviews-- I think that ties into so many aspects of current events. The bottom line/the bare minimum has not and will never be enough. We need to do more on all fronts. #envir492
Thank you for this question
@allisonkirste
and encouraging me to continue digging deeper even after this project is "over" because, really, this project is never over, and there is work to be done #envir492
@allisonkirste asked me about WOC in agriculture and pointed out a gap in my data, with CO-VID I wasn't able to continue my research, but it is no excuse and points at a larger issue within the field itself, while female farmers face barriers, WOC face them at an inequitable rate
#zoomPOEcap was new for everyone, but went surprisingly well! The instant I started speaking all my nerves vanished, and I felt like I got to reminisce on what a wonderful experience I had at my internship #envir492
@allisonkirste I'm WITH ya! I like to do short yoga flows (or anything that gets my blood pumping!) for 15ish minutes to break up computer time #envir492
@ConorC_POE @EPAnorthwest I'm all for non-toxic products! This is rad! Seventh Generation is a great line of non-toxic products that I've used and you can find them at most grocery stores! #envir492
