@Englishremnant Maybe true in the 19th century but not now. As Newman predicted, because the CofE is bound to the state it will always move with the politics of the day. Hence female priests and secularisation of the Church. The Ordinariate is the solution.
@cliftonaduncan Because he is a legendary actor with a legendary voice. We can detect when casting is cynical and for political reasons and when it is not. That is what's changed, not the reaction.
@poperespecter1 I'm not really against married priests but I'm a member of the Ordinariate. It's a good thing that former married Anglican priests are permitted to be ordained as Catholics, but they're a very clear exception. Generally though, I think giving any ground is best avoided.
