NDMA delivered a session on Disaster Assessment and Disaster Statistics during the final regional session of #ViluntheriBinaaru in Laamu Atoll. The session highlighted how disaster data supports evidence-based decision-making, impact-based forecasting, disaster risk reduction, and resilient infrastructure.
The regional session brought together council representatives and technical officers from Laamu, Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls to strengthen risk-informed planning and resilience.
Implemented by @mihudmv in partnership with @UNDPMaldives, with support from @cdriworld through the Infrastructure Resilience Accelerator Fund (IRAF).

Minister of State for Defence and National Service, Ms. Aishath Safoora, together with NDMA Chief Executive Hisan Hassan and SMT, inspected the progress of the Regional Emergency Operations Center under development in Hithadhoo, Addu City.
The visit aimed to review construction progress, assess project readiness, and ensure the facility will strengthen regional emergency preparedness and disaster response capabilities.
CE Hisan Hassan met with Ibrahim Nishan, Director General of public Health of @HPA_MV to discuss areas of collaboration to strengthen the partnership between HPA and NDMA on emergency preparedness and response. The meeting is part of a series of planned engagements with government ministries and agencies aimed at enhancing collaboration in disaster preparedness emergency response.

The National Disaster Management Authority acknowledges, with sincere appreciation, the generous contribution of disaster response equipment valued at approximately USD 4.3 million from the Government of Japan under the Economic and Social Development Programme .
The equipment was formally handed over by H.E. Ishigami Rumiko @JapanAmbMV and received by Chief Executive Mr.Hisan Hassan @hisanmv . This support will significantly strengthen national capacity in flood management and firefighting, particularly across outer island communities.

NDMA has launched the Damage Assessment and Loss Analysis (DALA) Portal, a national digital platform to modernise disaster reporting and support evidence-based decision-making in the Maldives.
The portal, developed by NDMA with technical support from @UNDPMaldives and funded through UNDP with contributions from Denmark, Luxembourg & Republic of Korea, enables faster response, smarter recovery, and a more resilient Maldives.
Launched by Minister Hon. Ali Ihusan (@min_mohst), accompanied by Minister Hon. @mgmaumoon and UNDP Representative Mr. Adnan Cheema, DALA aligns with President @MMuizzu's Digital Maldives 2.0, NDMA’s Strategic Action Plan, the Sendai Framework, and the Early Warnings for All initiative.
