🚨 Here is why Rayan Cherki doesn’t see many minutes for the France national team.

Rayan Cherki is a talented player. He is very technical, can keep possession, beat players, and create chances for his team. However, there are reasons why some coaches hesitate to give him more minutes.

Cherki’s style is based around possession football. He likes to have the ball, take players on, and create moments, but sometimes he holds onto the ball for too long and slows down the tempo.

This style works better under coaches who value controlling the game through possession, like Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, and other possession focused managers.

However, modern football has become more intense and transition based. Coaches like Didier Deschamps and others often want quick decisions, high intensity, and fast movement. In that system, Cherki needs to adapt because holding the ball too long can affect the speed of the attack.

Even when Pep Guardiola changed Manchester City’s style to a more direct and quicker transition approach, Cherki’s role became harder to fit, and some fans criticised Pep without understanding the tactical reason behind it.

For now, I doubt Cherki will get consistent minutes under Didier Deschamps unless he improves certain parts of his game.

I see alot of Manchester City fans angry again about Didier Deschamps decision benching Cherki, he doesn't hate the boy he just doesn't fit his system

If Cherki can become faster with his decisions, release the ball earlier, and play with more intensity, he has the potential to become the world class player many people believe he can be.

He's absolutely spot on to call FIFA out, as they've just sneakily turned football into a game of four quarters, like NFL or basketball so that broadcasters can sell more advertising.
