@Stella_grooves I agree! We used to sit in the bottle store with a goat on the braii, an ice cold castle and Nzombe Huru blaring on an old tape deck, hitched up to a car battery. Dancing and pointing at each other as Zhakata’s lyrics reminded us of who we were & to respect our roots.
What occasions a Transitional Government that some are calling for ? I have always found the call for a transitional government highly theoretical and unrealistic because in all honesty I can’t see anyone stepping aside for such and giving away the bird in hand to the unknown .
A more practical consideration would probably be a GNU , a mirror of 2009 -2013 , even that would be preceded by a new political settlement brought about by national dialogue.
A transitional administration only kicks in when there has been a logjam or revolution in the body politic . Under the status quo it’s just wishful thinking and childish .
What incentive does the government have to share power ? A transitional government assumes many things that are not at play at the moment . Its major assumption is that there is no one with a mandate to rule anymore , is that case with Zimbabwe? If it is , who was elected by the world to be a Member of the United Nations Security Council ( UNSC) ?
The reality on the ground is the star of the government is rising while that of the alternative is disappearing? Our politics need a realistic and honest rethink .

We have a unique opportunity to reshape the future of Zimbabwe. CAB3 has provided an opportunity for alignment & re-alignment of alliances. In a military autocracy as we have in Zimbabwe, short of a popular uprising the other option for democratic transition is military parity.
We are at a point where for the first time retired generals have come out in the open to oppose the establishment. And we all know that in Zimbabwe, generals don't retire - they rest and are re-assigned. We have seen that with the likes of Lt Gen Douglas Nyikayaramba.
While at the current time the long term interests of the pro-democratic movement and those of the generals may not align, some of the present interests do align. New alliances have to be built. It is better to have military parity that terminates in mutual respect than to have a perpetual military autocracy.
This does not come without cost nor risk. The gun has the power of force and rarely respects persuasion when power is in the vicinity. These are the treacherous waters we have to navigate cognisant of historical iniquities of 2017.
We have an opportunity!
