Zinedine Zidane on the Lionel Messi red card controversy vs Algeria:
🗣️ “I have watched the incident involving Lionel Messi several times now, from different angles, and I honestly don't understand how some people are calling for a red card.”
“Yes, there is contact. Nobody is denying that. But football is a contact sport, and not every collision automatically becomes a sending-off just because social media wants a bigger story.”
“What disappoints me is that people are spending more time talking about one accidental moment than talking about the football masterpiece Messi produced over ninety minutes.”
“A player scores a hat-trick, breaks records, dominates a World Cup match, and somehow the conversation becomes a challenge that lasted a few seconds. That tells you everything.”
“For me, intent matters. Context matters. The speed of the action matters. And when I look at the incident, I see a football action, not a player trying to hurt an opponent.”
“I think some people had already made up their minds before the replay was even shown. If that same incident involved another player, I don't believe we would still be discussing it hours later.”
“The truth is simple: Messi didn't escape a red card. There was no red card to escape. The referee saw it, VAR checked it, and they reached the same conclusion.”
“Instead of searching for controversy, maybe we should appreciate what we witnessed tonight one of the greatest players in football history delivering another unforgettable World Cup performance.”
@BBCMOTD@BBCSport All the Messi hating idiots here … he makes a clumsy challenge, and the moment he feels the leg under his foot you can see he totally shift the weight from his offending foot so as not to hurt the other guy. Shows immediate remorse and the other guy is fine. Why all the hate!??
FTP: LAPD killed her dog. He was wearing his Knicks jersey.
His name was Jameson. A golden doodle. One of the sweetest, most gentle breeds alive.
A neighbor called a noise complaint. That's it.
20+ officers showed up. Then a helicopter. For a noise complaint in an apartment complex.
And they shot Jameson dead. In front of his owner. In front of her child.
No warning. No de-escalation. Nothing.
The media is barely covering this. No headlines. No outrage.
Like it never happened.
If this was your dog... your child watching... how would you feel?
Jameson deserved better. That little boy deserved better. His mama deserved better.
@ZiaYusufUK Muhammad Ziauddin Yusuf … to use his full name … Shadow Home Secretary my arse! Afraid to even use his first name; I wonder why?? Never even elected as the most unlikeable guy in class, let alone any public office! Unelectable our Muhammad!
@ChaosTV They want the public to react, that’s their bread n butter, so just walk away with zero interaction. That’ll defeat them! Either that or just put a bullet in their head; that will also stop them in their tracks!
Racism is connected to lower cognitive ability because racist thinking depends on crude generalisation, poor abstraction, low tolerance for complexity, and a preference for simple in-group/out-group narratives. The evidence does not prove that every racist has a low IQ, but it does show that lower cognitive ability is a meaningful predictor of greater prejudice. In plain English: racism is what happens when a weak mind tries to make the world simple enough for itself.
@Transferhaber6 It’s simple, one warning, then punish the Home Team which provides these ball boys with heavy fines or even points deduction (the only thing that they fear)!
As for the boys (and girls) who misbehave, a lifelong ban from being a ball boy (girl)!
Football has become immoral!
It was terrible Mr Vice President what happened. And lessons will be learned. But here’s a thought - maybe concentrate instead on why 44000 Americans died last year from gun related deaths, and what can be done about your dreadful disease before you start lecturing others
@FrankelWatch13 If I was riding ‘em, I’d just follow Pierre B everywhere, and then try and go past him in the last 2f. If you beat him you win! (I think!) 🙂
