Imogen is in the corner losing her fucking mind ripping her hair out bc every other person is actively hitting on laudna meanwhile laudna is exclusively and ONLY jealous of a horse imogen stopped to greet in the street
I hope when they adapt bells hells and get to the part of imodna's development where they start feeling jealous of other characters they keep the facet that laudna is exclusively jealous of people that make no sense. like orym (gay man)
@PunkaLynch which isn't to say we won't get some beautiful scenes between and about them! but is to say those scenes won't be functionally "developmental"
okay tlovm criticism look away if you don't like that but while I understand the purpose portraying vaxleth—specifically keyleth—as juxtaposed to the briarwoods—specifically delilah—played as an emotional hammer this season I wish they had given that same depth of drive to vex
@PunkaLynch unfortunately seems a bit late to develop anything rather than dive head first into just utilizing the audience's understanding that the relationship is a very close one rather than show it beforehand—another larger tlovm criticism I have (continual breaking of show don't tell)
#lvmspoilers party bc vex canonically IS the most like delilah in her desperation in-campaign of course, but also partly bc for a season that bookends with vax dying, there was far too little emphasis on the relationship that got him here to begin with
@_abbyelizabethx skdkdkd you're good, I share those criticisms! and honestly the sidelining of vox machina's platonic relationships in favor of their romantic ones (w the exception of buddies) is a criticism I have of tlovm on the whole and have since s1, and it's only marginally improved
@_abbyelizabethx this is a world where eventually it will be told that the gods themselves are first and foremost siblings that could not bear to lose or let go of each other but they haven't even truly focused on THE critical role siblings for more than like three minutes a season!
@illuminemo I know! It's why it doesn't fully land for me that they gave that role to keyleth even if the desperation makes sense and even though it works within the confines of the narrative they have chosen to tell—it's still ultimately flatter than letting vex feel that, too
@BreadedDylan yeah same, her character is the one done the most dirty by a pretty wide margin. not often in the moment to moment dialogue, but in the far more important actual story beats—such as this one, imo!
I am also aware that next season will 1000% have vex deeply, deeply grieving for however long they play out this portion of vax's tragedy, but that doesn't take away from how it should have been emphasized here as well for me
even in the direction, keyleth shouldn't have been the only one to get a proper, individual reaction cut or scream. I get it! the romantic relationships are always going to be the thing to get the most allotted time, esp in a shorter show, but it does make me sad
