More than 500 activists have begun a humanitarian convoy from Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, setting out toward the border of Palestine aboard 17 buses and dozens of accompanying vehicles.

The convoy stands in solidarity with Palestinians and a call for greater international attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

They begun their journey in Srebrenica, a place that stands as a lasting reminder of the consequences of mass atrocities.

Their son Yamen, now around two years old, was born during the early stages of the genocide, and their daughter Salam, was born on October 25, 2025. The family has been displaced multiple times, originally ten times, after their newly built home was destroyed on the first day of the genocide, leaving them without possessions or stable housing. They currently live in a converted rented garage, with monthly rent around $300 to $400, and face an accumulated debt of approximately $3,500 (having repaid part of earlier loans) due to high costs during the siege, including significant withdrawal fees on transfers. With no steady income or government assistance available amid widespread destruction in Gaza, where over 85% remains in ruins, the family relies on donations for essentials such as food, water, milk, diapers, clothing, and hygiene items for the children, as well as vitamins and medical checkups for Ghadeer following her recent childbirth. Ashraf continues to seek support to cover these ongoing needs, clear debts, and provide a measure of stability for his wife and children during this prolonged hardship.

Warda suffers from severe migraines that hinder her daily functioning, while her husband manages kidney stones and high blood pressure, requiring medications costing $180 to $200 per month. Anas sustained third-degree burns and a broken leg in the attacks, needing ointments and painkillers that cost about $100 monthly. The family relies on limited donations for food, water, and basic essentials, facing persistent starvation and malnourishment. Despite their advanced age, Warda and her husband were recently blessed with twins, for whom they now need milk, clothes, and other infant supplies to care for the newborns.

Only a few days separate Gaza City from complete collapse. What remains of life here is falling apart before the eyes of the world.

Desalination plants have stopped, and bakeries, factories, power generators, and vehicles are shutting down one after another due to the lack of fuel and oil. Within days, ambulances and hospital services may completely stop.

In hospitals, injured people and patients are dying because of the lack of medicine, medical equipment, and the resources needed to save their lives. There are no sufficient medical supplies, no prosthetic limbs for those who have lost their limbs, and no wheelchairs for the injured and people with disabilities.

Most essential materials are being prevented from entering. There is no wood, no iron, no cement, and no materials to rebuild what has been destroyed. Even caravans and shelter units are not allowed to enter.

Waste is piling up, and there is no ability to remove or manage it, increasing the spread of diseases and making life more unbearable day after day.

The economy is collapsing, unemployment is rising at an alarming rate, aid is decreasing, and thousands of families are struggling just to obtain the most basic necessities of life.

An entire city is being brought to a standstill before the eyes of the world.

What is the world waiting for before it acts?

Mahmoud, who studied media at the University of Palestine and previously earned a living as a taxi driver, lost his vehicle when a neighboring house was bombed. Several months ago, while outside near a bombed area using the internet, he was injured in a rocket attack that fractured his left shoulder and hand and caused severe head trauma, severely restricting his mobility though he has seen gradual improvement recently. The family has been displaced twice, faces persistent shortages of food, clean water, and safety, and experiences ongoing malnutrition, with the children often lacking basics like sweets, milk, and diapers; Dana requires around $300 monthly for formula and diapers. Mahmoud prioritizes giving what limited funds he has to support his mother's needs over other expenses, and the entire family remains largely confined to the room due to his injuries and the surrounding dangers.

The family has been displaced six times amid the ongoing genocide and grapples with no steady income, limited access to clean water, widespread disease, rodent infestations, and inflated prices for basic necessities. Baraa previously had three children: her infant daughter Maha passed away during the genocide, her son Ibrahim battles malnutrition along with recurring dental issues that require antibiotics and a $50 operation, and her 6-year-old daughter Masa remains in a coma due to severe malnutrition, leading to nervous spasms and brain atrophy; Masa is receiving care at a distant facility where Baraa can only visit for 20 minutes daily, incurring substantial hospital and transportation costs. Baraa herself has vitiligo that needs $300 in treatment, her 55-year-old father requires $50 monthly for medications to manage high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and neck pain from carrying heavy loads, and her mother needs $150 in medications for involuntary hand tremors resulting from exposure to fire. The family is seeking $700 to buy a larger tent for Baraa’s immediate family unit, as daily living expenses, driven by inflation, range from $150 to $300 for food, water, medicine, and other essentials. Through fundraising efforts, Baraa hopes to address these urgent medical and survival needs and, if border crossings reopen, to evacuate Gaza for a safer environment where her surviving children can have stability and a chance at a normal childhood.

With no income and limited resources, Mai is actively seeking assistance to meet her family's urgent needs for food, medical support, and essential items as they struggle to survive day by day.
