Women of all sizes have sex and seek reproductive health care to do so safely, so why are some doctors holding said birth control hostage until they lose weight?
This is the story of one woman’s struggle to get contraceptive care. A thread:

I know “Same Love” is this collective joke to some, but the truth is, a decade ago, things were just different. I can’t accurately describe it. There was success, yes! But the death threats. The anger. The protests.
I'm seeing all these articles from hearing, non-CODA journalists titled "Here's what CODA means for the Deaf community," where journalists haven't actually spoken to a lot of people in the community and *it shows*.
Please don't contact me or anyone at Unplug about this situation. Unplug has never centered the team - It's a community space and we want it to stay that way. However, I did not anticipate some of the backlash I've seen and it felt really really necessary to share.
When we asked for their "community space" that was going to be named "Radical" belonging to have affinity groups that center Black people explicitly, they said it was divisive
You can't make this shit up. Mikey pushing for accountability is not "cancel" culture, it's protection
When we explicitly asked for legal representation in a very *big* project, L*ndo said they didn't believe in that.
When we explicitly asked for time to decide if we were going forward, they went ahead and announced the partnership publicly before we agreed.
We were in brief partnership with L*ndo and had to step away. They explicitly abused their power - whether knowingly or not. Please listen to Mikey and everyone else sharing.
I don't have the bandwidth or energy to share our experience with L*ndo - as my mental health really can't handle the situation becoming a debate or spectacle. But I do feel obligated to say this: What happened to Mikey is not a one off. It is a pattern.
Really over neoliberal fat liberation aka body positivity. All it does is reinforce individualism and erase how we all reinforce systematic fat phobia within institutions.
Six months ago, Dr. Lindo Bacon reached out to the ASDAH Leadership Team about their intent to write a revised Health at Every Size® Book. What transpired has caused a great deal of harm and a heavy burden of emotional labor for our team.

Grief does not need to be something we run from, hide from, feel shame around. There is room for grief, however that might look to you, in the process of radical self love, unlearning, and redefining.
