Such a brilliantly engaging and accessible read! So many fab quotes throughout but one of my faves: "The algorithm and the human work together in partnership, exploiting each other's strengths and embracing each other's flaws." #helloworld
@andre_quentin Doesn't seem to hold for z-score outliers, simulations show comparable FP rate for overall vs by condition. Further, where NH is false the normal distribution requirement for z-score calculation is violated for the overall sample, so by-condition methods may be more appropriate.
THANK YOU πβ€οΈπππ This is for all the key workers who are working incredibly hard to keep the country going in the fight against the virus. We thank you for everything youβre doing. We really appreciate it! Letβs all #clapforourcarers π
Great to be back at @YorkPsychology this evening to talk about careers outside academia. Thanks so much for inviting me @hollybrown_18 @FrancinaJane, lots of great discussion from a fab bunch of ECRs #DataScience#ecrchat
Wow, this is my first time using the python interpreter from within RStudio. It automatically moves between interpreters depending on the type of script you're running! #rstats + #python, very nice.
Love this! My psychology background has been SO useful in my transition from academia to data science. From research design, to hypothesis testing, to understanding customer behaviour/motivation, us psychology PhDs have a lot to offer in the #datascience world π
Check out our new paper on sleep and word learning in autism. Very proud of this one. Certainly a challenge to run (with huge thanks to team @fay_fletcher, @SleepsmartYork, @lilacCourt, @mggaskell, @vcpknowland) but definitely worth the wait. https://t.co/dsidi6q7Pd
When haters go after your looks and differences, it means they have nowhere left to go. And then you know youβre winning!
I have Aspergers and that means Iβm sometimes a bit different from the norm. And - given the right circumstances- being different is a superpower.

I've been working on a total rewrite of dtplyr, which lets you take advantage of (almost all of) data.table's speed while using dplyr syntax. The package is still in development, but I'd love for you to try it out and let me know how it goes: https://t.co/MXogoZ2lvu #rstats
