I must say entering the holidays as a:
1) single, late 20s
2) mid-way through MD/PhD
3) Asian woman with a traditional family
4) where all my siblings & cousins are married/in long-term relationships
is a special kind of frozen hell I couldn't anticipate.
*ICYMI*: #COVID19 contributed to
25% of maternal deaths in the first two years of the pandemic, with Black pregnant people experiencing a mortality rate nearly 3x higher than their white peers, according to an oversight report to Congress.

I'm leaving this rotation feeling more reassured than ever about applying #obgyn: working with the best resident team and encouraging faculty mentors makes all the difference.
These past weeks on L&D have been some of the most validating moments of med school. On my last day, I got to push with my Chinese-speaking patient and deliver her baby! A true full-circle moment to my labor coaching days. Immigrant mamas deserve it all. 🥹
