The government claims it has improved the economy in last 4 years. If that is true, will any government spokesperson answer following questions:
1. Why are millions more living below the poverty line today as compared to April 2022? Why is poverty at 45% according to world bank and why is it consistently increasing?
2. ⁠why are more people unemployed today compared to April 2022? According to your own government numbers, unemployment is at a 21 year high. Why unemployment is increasing on a daily basis?
3. ⁠why has there been an erosion of purchasing power in the range of 60-65% in last 4 years as a result of unprecedented inflation ? Is it not a fact that Pakistan never witnessed inflation rate of 38% which is the highest inflation rate ever ?
4. ⁠Is it not a fact that exports today are lower than what they were in 2022?
5. ⁠is it not a fact that investment to GDP ratio is at a 50 year low ?
6. ⁠is it not a fact that foreign direct investment has plunged in last 4 years despite PM’s dozens of trips abroad? Despite the setting up of SIFC in June 2023 when close to 100 billion dollars were promised
7. ⁠is it not a fact that savings to investment ratio has declined since April 2022?
8. ⁠why have the electricity rates significantly gone up in last 4 years both for general public and industry ? Is it not a fact that electricity rates today are the most expensive in our history?
9. ⁠is it not a fact that we are paying capacity payments (in trillions of rupees) for unused electricity more than at any time in our history?
10. Is it not a fact that our tax rates are the highest ever in our history? Why is it so?
11. ⁠is it not a fact that our petrol prices are the highest ever in our history?
12. ⁠is it not a fact that the petroleum levy today is approximately 10 times higher than what it was in April 2022?
13. ⁠is it not a fact that our debt is significantly higher today than what it was in April 2022? (81 trillion today vs 44 trillion in April 2023 - fastest ever increase in any 4 year period)
14. ⁠why is our circular debt for gas close to Rs 3.5 trillion today which is the highest in our history and far more than what it was in April 2022?
15. ⁠why is the circular debt for electricity today around 1.8 trillion despite Rs 1.3 trillion that was reduced through bank borrowing and passing it back to people through electricity bills ?
16. ⁠is it not a fact that public sector entities are bleeding money far more than compared to April 2022? (More than trillion rupees per annum)
17. ⁠is it not a fact that average GDP growth in last 4 years has been the lowest ever for any 4 year average in our history?
18. ⁠Finally and most important- Are common Pakistanis better off today than they were back in April 2022? Surely my answer is simple - people are worse off today in every respect compared to April 2022.
19. ⁠what about people in the ruling regime ? Are they better off today than compared to April 2022? Surely rulers are not just better off but having the best time.
