NIGERIA MOVES TO UNIFY AND ENHANCE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DATA:
The Federal Ministry of Environment in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Management Sciences for Health (MHS) held a 5-day residential workshop for quality Management System Training and ISO 17025 Implementation for the Environmental Health Sector.
The workshop had in attendance officers from the Federal Ministry of Environment; officers of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) Reference Laboratories in Lagos, Kano, Abuja and Port Harcourt; as well as staff of FAO-ECTAD, and MSH, FAO Consultants.
The workshop was intended to improve the quality of environmental laboratory operations in Nigeria and align them with international standards, contributing to the overall effectiveness of Anti – Microbial Resistance surveillance in the country.
The Director General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Dr. Innocent Barikor, represented by the Director South South Zonal Office, Mr. Nosa Aigbedion tasked the participants put into practice the skills acquired in the collection and analyses of environmental data.
The theme for #WorldFieldEpidemiologyDay 2024 is
"Collaboration is essential to field epidemiology".
