How many UK left Twitter accounts you follow have given you any indication that they understand that the models have these kinds of capabilities? Think about it. How many have you seen offer any commentary (at all) on LLMs that isn’t screeching, hysteria or sneering?
June 2024: The latest general-purpose LLMs could not count the r's in strawberry.
July 2025: The latest general-purpose LLMs get gold in the International Math Olympiad.
May 2026: The latest general-purpose LLM solve one of the "best-known questions in combinatorial geometry"
And they refuse to update their positions even as evidence accumulates that contradicts them. In fact, this causes many of them to quadruple down on aggressively denying they were ever wrong about anything. They are to be the vanguard to a UK political revolution, really?
For a lot of the left there is apparently no proof of progress in LLMs that will ever cause them to update their prior misconceptions that the technology is a scam, incapable of doing anything. They’ve mentally invested too much, publicly staked too much on their bold opinions.
It SHOULD cause you to doubt their judgment on other matters, frankly. Many people have shown that they are shallow in their thinking, quick to rush to judgment, wildly ignorant of topics that they make zero effort to understand, indulge in emotional hysterics over analysis.
bro it isn’t generally intelligent bro its only read every book and paper ever written and just making connections between them bro. its only thinking for twenty hours bro it’s just brute force thinking bro. its only solving erdos problems bro it could never be an accountant bro
AI has now solved a major open problem -- one of the best known Erdos problems called the unit distance problem, one of Erdos's favourite questions and one that many mathematicians had tried.

It beyond incredible and well into the realm of the bizarre to compare the real progress of AI to the way the state of technology is discussed by leftists on social media. It's dizzying how bafflingly wrong the UK left is about LLMs.

Today, we’re sharing that a general-purpose internal @openai model achieved a breakthrough on one of the best-known combinatorial geometry problems. Less than 1 year ago frontier AI models were at IMO gold-level performance. I expect this pace of progress to continue.
Our evaluations show that frontier AI's cyber capabilities are advancing quickly. The length of cyber tasks frontier models can complete has been doubling every few months, and this rate has become faster over time, with recent models exceeding our previous trends. 🧵
@uhhuhhuhok@sethharpesq The complete refusal of the left to seriously engage with the reality of this technology has completely fucked our ability as a political constituency to respond to the gigantic challenges it is going to pose to our interests. Just embarrassing. Whole of left atrocious on this.
@sethharpesq@uhhuhhuhok Genuinely too thick to think through the implications of us being able to reach a computer to code is. Just revelling in your own slack-jawed ignorance.
@img4346_jpeg@CletusCornpone@sethharpesq He said research level mathematics
Imagine if any of you morons showed the slightest bit of interest in learning anything about something that you evidently have very strong feelings about

I can’t wrap my head around how diabolically atrocious the discourse around any modern novel technology is
Can’t wait to see the UK Twitter left’s horrendous takes on this when Waymo come to London later this year.
@pchallinor Genuinely I’m trying to understand because the implication seems to be that privately ran post offices should be somehow forced to use UK govt owned software. Or even more significantly that all UK govt owned bodies shouldn’t use privately owned software. Really?
@pchallinor So, what, Post Offices should have used software made by a government owned software company (like socialised software) or…they shouldn’t use software at all? Trying to understand the thought process here in terms of the link between the two stories and what should be done.
