Pitch Recognition Score: describes a hitter’s ability to recognize whether or not a pitch will be a strike

Love this article. It further emphasizes two things I firmly believe:

1. Analyzing hitters is very hard

2. Mechanical adjustments are noteworthy but should not be viewed as a guarantee of change. Sometimes they work out (Cedric Mullins) and sometimes they don’t

Hitters who made publicly noted mechanical adjustments over the offseason have been no more likely to improve their xwOBA than the rest of the league so far this yr.

That's interesting on its own, but it's a topic that warrants more research imo. More in my latest @RotoBaller
