Tonto Basin Resident Charged with Transporting a Minor for Criminal Sexual Activity

The indictment alleges that between December 2023 and July 3, 2026, Brian Griffeth, 48, of Tonto Basin, AZ, transported a minor between Arizona and Florida with the intent that the minor engage in criminal sexual activity, including production of child pornography.

The FBI’s Phoenix Division conducted the investigation, with assistance from the FBI’s Jacksonville office and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Phoenix Man Sentenced to 171 Months in Prison for 2022 Peoria Carjacking

In August, 2022, Adonijah Josiah Ortega, 23, of Phoenix, approached the victim in a business parking lot in Peoria, AZ. There, he demanded the victim’s wallet and keys and a physical confrontation ensued. During the confrontation, Ortega struck the victim in the head several times with a pistol and shot him in the leg. Ortega then fled with the victim’s vehicle. Investigators with the FBI and Peoria and Phoenix Police Departments arrested Ortega three days later at an apartment complex.

California Man Indicted and Detained for Multi-Million Dollar Covid-19 Loan and Commercial Loan Fraud Scheme

The indictment alleges that Rodney Rosenstein, 58, of Huntington Beach, California, and other co-conspirators obtained approximately $2.9 million from 15 fraudulent loans under the Paycheck Protection Program’s Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act, known as the CARES Act.

Former Tribal Police Officer Indicted for Using Excessive Force and Falsifying a Report

According to the indictment, after an arrestee was handcuffed and secured in the back of a police vehicle, Jacob Christopher Slawson, 29, punched the arrestee in the face, knocking him unconscious, and then yanked him out of the vehicle causing N.G. to split his head open on the concrete, resulting in bodily injury.

🚨 Historic decline in violent crime rates 🚨

National crime data for 2025 show the largest year to year drop in violent crime since the FBI began tracking estimates in 1936. The reductions in murder, robbery, and property crime underscore the continued efforts of FBI personnel to combat violence and safeguard communities.

Tucson Man Sentenced to 60 Months in Prison for Assaulting Victim with a Metal Rod

On Dec. 14, 2025, Sonny Reyes Lozano, 38, of Tucson, AZ, an enrolled member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, confronted the victim as he was walking home. Lozano struck the victim approximately eight times with a metal rod, inflicting serious injuries. The victim sustained a fractured ulna.
