@FRHoffmann1 Your premise: “If Western Europeans falters, NATO is finished.” is not true. Why would that be the case? Credibility is not lost in one battle and is contingent on the circumstances and what is at stake. Ignoring a Russian move to avoid escalation could be perfectly rational.
@vshih2 One reason is that Churchill had all the work done at Bletchley park classified and all the “bombs” (computers) built by Turing and team dismantled for fear that the Soviets would learn that the allies had broken enigma (which the Soviets recycled I believe..)
