On the profile, I think Barcola is the upgrade in one important area: dynamism and chance creation.

He is the higher-volume chance generator and ball-carrier. Better shooting positions, more progressive carries, more box involvement and more goals per 90.

Gakpo still has the edge in proven Premier League output, assists, aerial work, duels and positional versatility.

So this isn't a like for like replacement.

I was only able to catch the 2H of the Newcastle v Liverpool match but one player stood out to me.

Yoane Wissa.

He was miles above his form last season. He looked decisive, quick and handled the ball with a superb touch. Far off what I saw from him last year as the striker in Howe's system.

He was a threat all game, assisting Willock's goal, and nearly netting one himself.

Looking at on his action map from the match he was playing a deep lying role to create the pivot for the counter chances Newcastle used. He'd hold up play and then break forward. He really looked like his old Brentford self with his pace down the field.

Newcastle surprised me after a disappointing preseason, and Wissa was one of the main reasons why. His movement and presence up front gave them a different dimension.

Thanks to Opta we can recap how Hull City kept a clean sheet in their first game of the season against Manchester United.

Hull stayed compact and solid, leaving the outside of the pitch near empty. Clog and counter seemed to be the plan.

And it worked to perfection.

Manchester United had no answer with how compact and hard working Hull defender were for the full 90'.

Great game plan and well-deserved win for the newly promoted side.

I can't begin to describe how much I adore the EFL Championship.

Each team approaches with their own unique identity style and play. This was displayed no better by yesterday's match between Wrexham and Cardiff in the Welsh derby. Tic Taka vs Direct Play.

Watching a full Wrexham match for a first time, I noticed they play full on direct ball progression. It really felt like a basketball match. Boot it and run.

Looking back at the progressive passes, it matches exactly how I saw the game back. The pace and intensity in which they break, is hard to compare.

They truly are ready to just run and gun for 90 mins. Impressively they completed about 2/3 of these bombastic passes.

Tactically it has worked well for them to this point, but the question I have is it sustainable for a full season? The player's look visibly drained by the 80th min.

In the end it provides great one on one chances for Wrexham, and a very entertaining brand of football.

I wanted to take a look back at Arsenal's manhandling of Manchester City in the Community shield.

Man City always looked to be on the backfoot and if we look at the passing network we can see why.

Arteta did not wait to become the aggressor yesterday. Right away setting the tone keeping both fullbacks high and supporting the midfield.

New signing Guimarães and Captain Ødegaard dictated the flow and attack in midfield and worked tirelessly all game long.

Interesting to see if this tactic holds up this season in the Premier League.

A more forward thinking Arteta perhaps?

Both matches I've watched of Groningen this season they look so confident on the ball.

Quick and composed decision making, and creating an impressive amount of dangerous attacks.
