*An abuse survivor and their children trying to leave their abuser*
Social workers: The child's safety is very important, so you must leave him
Police officers: Stop contact
The family court: He has a right to contact. You must facilitate contact or have your child taken away
Very welcome news that the @NSPCC has denounced parental alienation theory.
The theory is unscientific, unreliable, and unsafe for adult and child victims of abuse. It should have no place in child protection at all.
We try to teach our children about consent; the #FamilyCourt says kids can't say no to an abuser.
We try to teach our children to speak up if they're feeling unsafe; the court often ignores them.
We teach our kids right from wrong, and the court tells them wrong is right.
The world is getting a live demonstration of the perps playbook, thanks to Kanye West.
He's at the parental alienation allegation stage. It's usually alleged in response to an abuse victim acting protectively to try and limit their behaviour. Abusers don't react well to limits.
@DrProudman@DWP It is a terrible system that yet again works in favour of abusive fathers. Child maintenance should be taken just like tax and national insurance but with regular lifestyle/bank account checks for those that manipulate the system.
DA victims/survivors shouldn't have to use up annual leave, because you can't opt out of attending court to go to work instead.
Employers also need to understand the stress and extra pressure employees are under whilst they are in court for domestic abuse related reasons.
Yes. Family court is a major platform for post-separation abuse. There are many other platforms perpetrators use too. Financial & economic abuse, smear campaigns in the community, stalking and sending threats, and much more. These perpetrators are highly harmful.
The workings of taking a child away from a loving safe home. Abusive parent refuses to acknowledge their behaviour, child doesn’t want to spend time with them. Abusive parent wants to blame someone ..: they blame the parent who the child has a bond rather than change conduct.
"They wish he would stop bullying Mom and stop bullying them. They wish he would stop trying to turn them against her. They get sick of how nothing is ever his responsibility and he blames Mom for everything. They get why Mom is afraid of him"

Co-parenting with an abuser places huge pressure on victims. Abusers sabotage everything they can. Anything that can be leveraged, will be. From the kids drop off time to financials, it results in what looks like 'conflict' to the untrained eye, yet there's a clear protagonist.
Trying to co-parent with a person who chooses to use coercive control/domestic violence against you can be like trying to put up a tent in gale force winds.
Everything good you do they tear down, and their relentless pressure makes it all 10 times harder than it should be.
The constant anxiety & fear of what is coming next when you live in coercive control & domestic abuse will make you sick. Your body isn’t meant to be on high alert all the time.
Somedays I am overcome with grief and anger at what I and my children have lost.
I am overcome with blame and guilt for choosing a narcissist father for my beloved children.
Sometimes my sadness is unbearable and I can't keep up the strong woman facade anymore.
We oppose the barbaric so-called 'treatment' for alienation known as 'reunification therapy'. The beginning of reunification therapy was shown in the @C4Dispatches film where children were forcibly removed from safe parents at midnight from their beds. Shameful. #TornApart
